Yes I know it’s St. Stephen’s Day/Boxing Day depending on whichever side of the pond you live on but I’m off on a rant.
I had to pay my monthly car insurance instalment last week and thought I’d better tell the company of my new address. I was gobsmacked when I was charged an extra €60 because of this. It’s not even the admin charge, it’s because our address has a higher premium….we are still in the same village, in fact we are only 1km up the road from the old house!
I have been on to the company who said they would get back to me – they didn’t. The extra €60 only covers me until my insurance needs renewing in March. I don’t think I’ll be staying with Aviva (post insurance) next time around. Car Insurance in Ireland really is a rip off.
This is unbelievable! Same village, same owner/driver and €60 more?! Good luck, Val; I hope there is a fairer car insurance around.
Yes it’s is a joke Karen, I couldn’t believe it! I had to pay the money on the spot too.
I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, Val. We all know that insurance companies are not very customer friendly; there should at least be a hint of it. 😦
There’s nothing we can do about it. They are going to rip us off until people stop driving or stop insuring their cars.

That sounds crazy, even by Irish standards of crazy. Hope you get sorted.
