Today, if you didn’t know, is St. Patrick’s Day. There’s always big excitement around the parades and in the last two years I’ve been on the PR team of Sligo Tidy Towns.
From January we’ve had weekly meetings planning this years float in the Sligo parade.
This year was ‘War on Waste’. We had ‘toy’ soldiers and ‘Roses of Rubbish’. It was great fun being a part of it and even better that they won the community award….and got shown on RTE news…and some of my pics were shown on the Journal.ie
What wasn’t so good is the fact that I’m the biggest eejit going. I arrived at the gym this morning where we were assembling the volunteers, there was no one in the gym and my mind started playing tricks on me. For some reason I got into my head there was a mad murderer in the gym (I read too many crime books)! So to take my mind off the murderer I started playing basketball. I was having a great time until I dropped the ball and fell over it! Flat on my face! So I now have a very swollen knee and a cut elbow. I’m just happy that no one saw me! I did manage to walk around the parade and cut the grass when I got home. I’m just hoping I can walk tomorrow.
