I won a competition on twitter last week for a Dr. Oetker baking hamper. It arrived today and it’s fantastic! Loads of goodies in it. Rocket-dog was very impressed as well.
We decided to make cakes right away to try out all the lovely products! Here’s the recipe we used:
175g butter
175g caster sugar
2 eggs (it could have done with three but we only had two)
175g self-raising flour
a dollop of milk (I’m sure there’s a technical term)
Couple of drops of vanilla essence
Now Lucy was telling me that we were meant to mix them in a bowl by hand…but I have a philosophy when it comes to cooking, it’s called ‘bung it in a blender’. So the sugar and butter went in the blender and were mixed, we added the eggs and mixed them, followed by the rest of the ingredients.
We put half the mix in cupcake cases and Lucy added marshmallows and chocolate chips to the rest of the mixture. Into the oven they went at 170C for about 15-20 minutes (I lost count). When they were cooked we left them to cool and the fun began with all the lovely Dr. Oetker products!
The cakes didn’t last long but we’ll just have to make some more 🙂
