It was a big day in Sligo yesterday for Yeats Day 2012. O’Connell Street was closed to traffic and the street came alive with the sights and sounds of W. B. Yeats and his poems.
Pollexfen House which belonged to W. B. Yeats Grandfather was open to the public and was showing a film about the poet. There were also papers belonging to him on display.
People were encourage to write messages and place them around the statue of W. B. Yeats which stands outside the Ulster Bank.
We watched a rendition of The Cat and the Moon. Which was re-created by members of ‘Branching Out’.
We had cake. We listened to music. We looked a fairies and magic which were created by Heidi Wickham. A very talented artist.
