Floods and other things

This was taken last week when Sligo got the brunt of the floods, luckily we didn’t get it anything as bad as Dublin did yesterday. Irish Weather Online put together a video of the devastation caused by the rain, it’s here.

A few things that might be of interest to Sligo people:

Firstly Mrs. Quin’s charity shop in town is having a happy hour tomorrow (Weds. 26th October) with all items (except coats) for 1 euro each. It’s from 12-1pm.

I have to give a big hello and a mention to Yasmeen Pikul. She is the Sligo Ambassador for the Toy Show Experience and is doing a really excellent job. Please support her on Facebook and say hello to her if you see her around town.

There is a busy weekend ahead for Sligo. Firstly Sligo Live is on. It’s a great event with lots of music including Elvis Costello and KT Tunstall. There will also be a French Market in the town and loads of other events. It brings a lovely atmosphere to Sligo and there is something for everyone.

On Saturday Homebase in Sligo are having a Fun Day in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. There will be music, face-painting, a bake sale and a big raffle. For more details click here.

Also on Saturday the Village Food Fare in Collooney is having a re-opening party. There is story telling for all the young witches and wizards with free face-painting and a prize for the best dressed. There is also free beer and cheese tasting for the adults and some great prizes to be won. Click here for details.

So that’s plenty to keep you all occupied for the weekend 🙂 If you see a mad wan wandering around with a camera that’ll be me so say hello 🙂
