Owl City in Dublin

Owl City was at The Academy, Dublin last night. He’s one of Jono’s favourite artists. I was a bit worried as it was a standing only concert and Jono isn’t able to stand for too long because of his back so I contacted The Academy and we were put in the VIP Balcony. Which was lovely as we had comfy leather couches to sit on.

The first act was Unicorn Kid he played some great dance music and got the crowd dancing. We got to meet him and he was a really nice guy 🙂

Then Owl City came on. He’s really very talented. He played drums, keyboard and guitar as well as singing. He was on stage for around an hour and a half. He was telling the crowd how delighted he was to be in Dublin and how much he loved his fans. Too bad that after the show he came out and totally ignored the fans that were waiting for him (us included). To be honest it’s put me off him a lot. We’ve met a lot of celebrities over the years and he’s the only one we’ve seen that had no time to speak to anyone. After all it’s the fans that help these people tour and it seemed he had forgotten that fact.

On the other hand we got to meet Breanne Duren who is a singer in her own right but she was playing keyboards with Owl City. She was lovely, had time to talk to everyone and pose for photos. Until she was hustled onto the tour bus.

It was amazing to see all the different age groups there. There was an older lady (in her late 60’s I’d say) sitting in the balcony singing all the songs. There was also a six year old, who had a cool banner saying he knew all the words to the songs 🙂 Downstairs there was a girl dressed as a banana and a Fizz from Coronation Street look a like (I was wondering if it actually was her).

There is a bit of video from the start of the concert here:

The rest of my photos are here.

  1. I know you probably didnt know this but Adam Young(Owl City) is very socially awkward, like really bad hence not meeting the fans after the show:)
