Paramore

Paramore, originally uploaded by magnum_lady.

Three blogs in one day! I should have done this yesterday but didn’ get around to it.

So on Saturday we went up to Dublin to see Paramore. We are big fans. Lucy first played a cd in the car last year and I was hooked. So when I heard they were coming to Dublin we had to be there too.

We got there just after 7pm and took our seats. The place was packed. There were so many people standing (I’m really glad we had seats) because it just look like one big scrum. The security guys had to pull a few people out of the crowd and they were handing out water.

The first band was Scuba Dice. I thought they were good although I didn’t know any of the songs they were singing. I do remember seeing them on ‘You’re a star’ on RTE a couple of years ago.

Next on was B.o.B. I was sceptical about him being a support act as I didn’t think it was the right kind of music to go along with Paramore. I was really surprised though. He was great. He got the crowd singing and dancing along especially when he sang ‘Magic’. He also did a great version of MGMT’s ‘Kids’ and of cours the highlight was when he sang ‘Airplanes’ and Hayley came out on stage to join him.

It was after 9.30pm when Paramore came on stage but it was well worth the wait. The lights went down, the music started, the crowd went wild, the curtain fell and the rave began 😀
The setlist is here. Luckily the people in front and behind us stood and danced during the concert so we were able to as well. Ignorance was a great song to start the show with. I loved all the songs though and my voice was almost gone at the end of the show. I was very jealous of Megan from Donegal who was invited on stage to join the band to sing Misery Business……..such a lucky girl and a great end to a wonderful show.

There were only three downsides for me.
One is that they didn’t sing more songs. I would have preferred to see more of Paramore and less of the support bands.
Two were the muppets throwing things on stage. OK I can understand cuddly toys, but not glo sticks or shoes. The band were getting angry about it as well.
The last point is that I can never understand why people go to concerts when they obviously don’t want to be there. The people next to me spent the night with their arms folded and stayed sitting most of the time.
Another woman in front spent the time shivering and had to be wrapped up in a scarf and coat by her boyfriend.
People if you don’t want to go and see a band do us all a favour and stay at home.

Photo’s of the show can be found here. There is a bit of video here (also a couple more on my youtube page):

Oh before I forget this is the view from our hotel room:
