I was shocked yesterday when I heard that Gerry Ryan had died.

I was on twitter and saw a mention that something had happened to him…..of course sometimes rumours are just that and it turns out to be false.

In this case it was true. To people that don’t live in Ireland Gerry was a well known DJ on 2fm which is a national radio station.

I remember when we first moved here in 1991 watching him on the tv and of course he hosted the Eurovision song contest when Riverdance was first performed.

I wasn’t a fan of the radio show, but I feel sorry for his partner, family and friends. He was only 53.  RIP Gerry.
