Shiny, happy, Jesus

Now what to tell you. Well firstly today is Fathers Day and as it’s the first one without dad it feels a bit odd. I took some flowers to his grave, his name plate has fallen off the wooden cross, I was surprised to see it was only stuck on with double sided sticky tape instead of a more permanent fixing, we shall have to sort that out.

On to other things:
Friday afternoon was spent in Ballymote (I know how to live, don’t I!) for those that don’t know Ballymote is a small town in County Sligo, there are some good little shops though including a second hand shop which has loads of things for sale including vintage games consoles so Jono was delighted going through loads of boxes of things. There is also a second hand bookshop that buy your books from you and as Lucy is always reading we had a box of books to go there. We got 28 euro of credit so we came out with a bag full of different books.

Yesterday afternoon Lucy was going into Sligo shopping with a friend so rather then come home and go back again to pick her up (only one bus a week from the village to Sligo!), myself and Jono went off for a spin. We were looking for a beach so we turned left just passed Drumcliffe and ended up going along by Lissadell house which is sadly closed at the moment.

Anyhow we ended up driving for ages in what seemed like the arse end of beyond! We didn’t find a beach but we did find a place called Pegasus that does horse riding for the disabled and they were having a fun day so we stopped and had a look around. There was a really cute little goat there that I wanted! I had to drag myself away.

When we got back to town….eventually found our way back. We went to the art exhibition at the Model Niland gallery the title was Medium Religion, hence the photo which is one of the ‘twin Jesus (Jesus’s?)’ they are huge and made up of sort of sequins. I think it’s a shame there isn’t a sheet or something behind them so you can’t see the wires and things.
There were lots of things to do with religion, including ‘a dead body’, a McDonalds sign with a picture of Jesus on it and my own personal favourite a Gospel aerobics video, we couldn’t hear it very well as there were other films being shown in the same room but Jono and I strutted our stuff anyway!…..I wonder if I can get a dvd of it on ebay???
