Comedian Bob Hennigan returns to his native Ballina with his new show “….so, any craic?”. Bob was described by The Vodafone Comedy Festival as “Mayo’s most charming ball of misery.” This comedy gig takes place at the Ballina Arts Centre on Friday 24th May at 8pm. Tickets cost €18pp and can be purchased online on ballinaartscentre.com

Roll up! Roll up! The weekend 24-26th May the Daring Dames Festival is returning to Achill Island – Europe’s only all-female circus festival produced by Achill- based circus company Circus250. Mayo’s first aerial rig will be unveiled at the opening shows on Saturday, featuring astounding flying acrobats from all over Ireland and beyond. Daring Dames Festival – Europes only all female circus festival being held on Achill Island weekend 24-26 May  – All Free.

The Jamestown Heritage Festival celebrates the Heritage of Jamestown Co Leitrim and takes place this year from the 24th to the 26th of May. With music, heritage lectures, Air Sea Rescue display, street entertainment, heritage market, Battle re-enactment.

1 – 6pm Big Day on the Mall in Castlebar will celebrate youth music making within Mayo showcasing over 100 young musicians.

Leitrim International Community Group host Street Feast 1pm – 4pm in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim. All welcome to this free event.

Retro Canonball Run comes to Kilronan Castle, Roscommon at lunchtime, and arrives at Drumcoura City, Leitrim 3.15 pm.

2 to 4pm, join botanist and ecologist Dr Dolores Byrne at Parke’s Castle, Leitrim, to explore the biodiversity around the castle.

Sunday 26th

Biodiversity Week: Go Wild at Céide Fields takes place in the Ceide Fields Visitor Centre, Ballycastle on Sunday 26th May from 11am – 4pm. There will be a day of fun and activities for all the family. Telescope viewing at Céide Cliffs, guided tours on the natural blanket bog, wildlife hunt and more! This is a free event, and no booking is necessary.

Leitrim Local Environmental Network invites you to a Bio Blitz event at the Dromahair Street Feast! Head to The Park in Dromahair on Sunday, May 26th, from 1pm to 4pm, for an afternoon of fun and discovery.
Dromahair Street Feast is back, bring a dish to share, and meet your neighbours. 1- 3pm in The Park.

Easkey Street Feast is on at 3pm Clarke’s Yard, bring a dish to share, and enjoy this free event, with live music and art.

 Mario Rosenstock will at the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo

Achonry Farmers Market host a family fun day on the live music, magician, craft demos and more. 10am – 1pm. N17, Sligo.

Ballycastle Athletics Club in Mayo are hosting a 3km and 5km fundraising family fun run/walk on Saturday 1st of June at 2 pm. Starting at the Community Hall in Ballycastle, this event is open to all. Children to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Everyone welcome.

Leitrim Animal Welfare host a fun dog show at The Peoples Park in Carrick-On-Shannon as part of the Carrick Carnival festivities.

Sunday 2nd June
Sunday Circus at the Castle returns again on Sunday 2nd June on the grounds of Belleek Castle in Ballina. Children can learn to juggle, hula hoop, spin plates and throw the diablo with real circus artistes from Circus250. Book here: https://circus250.com/event/summer-circus-camps

Monday 3rd June
Sligo’s Fittest Superstars are raising funds for an astro-turf in the Mercy College Sligo, the event takes place on June 3rd, and you can find out more information here.

Coming up: 

The 2nd Mary Robinson Climate Conference takes place in Ballina from the 5th to 7th June, with this year’s focus on ‘A Shared Response to a Shared Responsibility’. visit www.maryrobinsoncentre.ie for details.

It’s a great experience, and a wonderful way to network, meet other communities who are doing great work on climate action and have some fun. For a community member, it’s just €40 for a 2 day registration which includes lunch, and field trips. Also happening on Fri 7th June as part of the conference, there is a swap shop (for toys, plants and books) at the Mary Robinson Centre and a biodiversity meitheal to help set up our urban farm on site! 

Úna Bhán Tourism is starting Culture Friday from Friday June 7th running until August. This is a lunchtime series from 1pm to 1.30pm taking place in Úna Bhán Tourism / Boyle Craft Shop, The Grounds of King House, Boyle, Roscommon.
