As it’s International Women’s Day it seems fitting to give a mention to Bus Éireann’s 1916 commemorative campaign. Sligo’s Countess Markievicz will feature in the North West.
Yesterday the Friends of Sligo Gaol organised a seminar about Sligo Gaol and the life of Sligo women in 1916. I am fascinated by Sligo Gaol so I jumped at the chance to get back inside to have another look.
The Hawk’s Well Sligo Stories project has had a really enthusiastic response from the public to their call out for cuairteoiri – volunteers who will interview and record those who have stories to tell about Sligo in the early 1900s.
