Things to Do in Sligo This Sunday (Whatever the Day Means to You)

I know that Mother’s Day can mean different things to different people, and for some it may simply feel like any other Sunday. So if you’re looking for something to do this weekend that isn’t necessarily centred around the day itself, here are a few events happening around Sligo that might be worth checking out.

Start your morning with Get Better Running, who are meeting at 9am in Queen Maeve Square. It’s a friendly group and a great way to begin the day.

If you’d prefer something outdoors, Northwest Adventure Tours are hosting a guided hike up Benwiskin, with incredible views across Sligo and Donegal Bay.

Walk in Pink in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute. Meet at 10.30am at Sligo Rovers Showgrounds. Register here: https://walkinpink.ie/

For something a little more relaxing, SoakinWellness Limited are running a lovely workshop at Abhainn Studio in Enniscrone where you can create your own Atlantic sea and herbal body scrub. Spaces are limited, so booking is recommended.

You could also try something a bit different with a sheep walking experience from Walking Trips in Sligo, and there are baby lambs too. This needs to be pre-booked.

Markets are another great way to spend part of the day:

  • Sligo Indoor Market at The Canopy, 11am – 4pm
  • Cliffoney Country Market, 11am – 1pm

There’s also a Poetree Walk to Lisnalurg Fairy Fort, featuring poetry readings about trees. It’s a donation-based event near Sligo – bring wellies!

And of course, there’s plenty of live music happening around the county. John the Map always has a brilliant list of what’s on:

The two loves of Gabriel Foley in the Art Deco Ballymote is on at 8pm doors open at 7:30pm https://www.hawkswell.com/whats-on/shows/the-two-loves-of-gabriel-foley

However you decide to spend your Sunday, I hope you have a lovely day.
