Christmas and St. Stephen’s Day 2025 Activities in Sligo (and one in Ballina)

I know that some people are looking for things to do on Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day. Here are a few things that I’ve noticed.

Christmas Day

Sligo Parkrun 9.30am Doorly Park. Opposite the Cleveragh Retail Park. Find out more about Sligo Parkrun here: https://www.parkrun.ie/sligo/

10am The annual Streedagh Swim in aid of Focus Ireland, all welcome.

Not Sligo – but Mocha Beans, Pearse Street, Ballina, is open on Christmas Day 11-1pm for anyone who is alone, elderly or homeless.

Sauna Sasta is open all over Christmas. They are at Dunmoran Strand. Book here: https://saunasasta.ie/

 Mullaghmore Christmas Day Swim in aid of North West Hospice. Swim begins at 12 noon.

Christmas Splash on Christmas Day – 12pm – Rosses Point in aid of Sligo Cancer Support Centre

Lough Arrow Christmas Day Swim – 1pm. In aid of North West Hospice.

St. Stephen’s Day

Square Sundays Car Meet-up in The Square, Coolaney 10am – 1pm https://www.facebook.com/events/853046997253426

Sligo Athletics Club run St. Stephen’s Day 11am at Hazelwood Forest. https://www.facebook.com/events/1558384255315909

Aughris Swim. 12 noon, to raise funds for the Templeboy, Aughris Rural Action (TARA) Group. https://www.facebook.com/events/1554960968852181/

Sligo on Ice Fri 26th – 12noon to 7pm (St. Stephens Day). Sat 27th – Tues 30th – 10am to 8pm. https://www.sligoonice.ie/ Bookings recommended, but walk-ins are welcome if the session isn’t fully booked.

St. Stephen’s Day Swim at Raughly 1pm. In aid of Sligo Cancer Support Centre and Acquired Brain Injury, Sligo.

GOAL Mile 2025 Riverstown Community Park, St. Stephen’s Day, 11am. Register: https://goalmile.org/register?location=sligo-riverstown-community-park

Coolaney Utd. Annual St. Stephen’s Day Duck Race takes place at 2pm down at the side of the old River Inn pub, Coolaney, Sligo.
