Sligo Food News – October 2025

Welcome to Sligo Food News. I’ve spotted a few things that I thought you might be interested in, so I thought I’d add them here. I also put a call out on my social media channels, and was sent some news, so happy reading!

News

The Driftwood in Rosses Point will host the Big Pink Breakfast. Wednesday 8th from 11am – 1pm. This is in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

Miss Suzy will reopen its doors on 10th October 2025 after being closed due to a fire last year. They are donating their takings from the first day to Sligo Cancer Support Centre. Bookings via the website: https://misssuzy.ie/home1 Pic at the top of the blog is Sushi at Miss Suzy.

I recently discovered that The Glasshouse does mid-morning bites. It’s a great location to catch-up with friends over coffee, and watch the world go by.

You never know who you’ll meet in Sligo! Bill Murray was in The Beach Bar, he’s filming a new TV series, and has been spotted in various locations around the country. (Photo credit The Beach Bar). Ronan Keating was spotted recently in The Yeats Tavern, and around North Sligo.

Pink Clover is delighted to announce that it is now open Mondays going forward and not just for the summer season. Their opening times remain Monday-Saturday 10am-4:30pm. They will be hosting a gig for the upcoming Sligo Live festival. Come show your support for the incredible Patrick Stefan who performs in Pink Clover Saturday November 1st at 12pm. Entry is FREE.
The Pink Clover bakers personal favourite Autumn scone has returned. The Apple, Raisin and Cinnamon delight is a daily sellout and one not to be missed.

Sunday Roasts are back at Honestly, Strandhill. My family treated me to lunch there for my birthday back in February, and the roast was incredible.

Courses and Workshops

Pasta Fresca have teamed up with EGOpasta to host a pasta making workshop for adults, on Sunday, 19th of October at 2.30pm. The workshop will take place in their shop at 23 Grattan St, Sligo from 2.30pm and lasts approx. 2 – 2.5 hrs. Saturday 1st November 2025 – More fermented foods and miso with Neantog.

Cawley’s in Tubbercurry recently celebrated 61 years in business! Teresa and Pierre took over the business from Teresa’s parents Joe and Jean. It’s a fabulous spot in Tubbercurry, warm and welcoming, and be sure to check out the cupcakes!

Lyon’s Cafe are 23 years in business. Lyons Café opened its tearooms in 1926, and has been under the management of Gary Stafford since 2002. Lyons Bakeshop opened its doors in 2013, and both are well worth a visit. Top tip – check out the salads!
