Festivals in Sligo – September 2025

Happy September, the children are back to school, the seasons are changing, and you might think that things are being to slow down in Sligo, but you’d be wrong. September is a busy month of festivals in Sligo, and I’m going to tell you about some of the ones that I know about.

5th – 7th September. Wild & Well Festival. A weekend celebration of community, creation, and holistic wellness in the majestic Wild West. Taking place in Collooney. Website.

6th September. Minor Disturbance is a new one-day event brought to you by the team behind Spilt Milk taking place in The Factory performance space. There will also be an opening night in Fureys on the 5th. 12th – 14th September. Paddy Killoran Festival. A weekend of traditional music, taking place in Ballymote. Find out more on Facebook.

13th September. Relay for Life Sligo at ATU Sligo, Ash Lane, Ballytivnan, Co. Sligo. This event is in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, and you can find out more about it here: https://www.relayforlife.ie/event/sligo/home

14th September. Harvest Festival and Family Fun Day in Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown. Craft demos, Harvest Games, Music from Colm Burke, Craft stalls, BBQ and more.  https://sligofolkpark.com/2025/03/20/harvest-festival-and-family-fun-day/

18th September to Sunday 21st September. Cloonacool Sheep Festival. Not just a celebration of sheep, you’ll also find live music, bingo, a dance, and a show day. More information: https://www.facebook.com/cloonacoolsheepfestival

18th – 21st September. Remembering the Armada Festival. So many events taking place for this, including a commemoration, yoga, music, walks, talks, and more. Lots of the events are free too. Not quite Sligo, but the Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships take place Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle, Roscommon. From Saturday 20th to Friday 26th September. 26th – 28th September. The 30th anniversary of the Sligo Baroque Music Festival. Taking place in various locations in Sligo. Full details on the website. A special mention for the free Community Concert in Queen Maeve Square, Sligo town. Saturday 27 September 2025 13:30 – 14:30.
