I was out and about in Leitrim last weekend and I finally got the chance to call in to the Solas Art Gallery, I had planned it to coincide with the artists being there for The Leitrim Gathering. I hoped to see Margaret Rattigan who I have featured before on the blog, but sadly she couldn’t make it.

I got to meet artists Maria Mollohan and Paul Stockwell, along with Margaret they have a joint solo exhibition at the gallery, which is running until June 13th.
The Solas Art Gallery is in the beautiful Island Theatre in Ballinamore. It’s a stunning gallery that wraps around the theatre, and it’s well worth a visit if you are in the area. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday: 12pm– 5pm and Saturday: 10am – 3pm. Find out more about Solas here: https://www.solasart.ie/
I’m afraid I put Maria and Paul on the spot by asking if they’d like to do a podcast. I haven’t done one in almost three months, and I’ve lost my confidence a bit. This was a lovely way to get back into it again. I love doing the podcasts, but an unpleasant experience put me off for a while. Anyway, I did it, and you can have a listen back here, or click below. Thanks so much to Maria and Paul for being part of it.

When I was in Ballinamore I had breakfast at Square Coffee. It’s a lovely coffee cart and they serve Açaí bowls! I was a happy bunny!

I looked at The Junction Hub, this used to be a railway station, and it’s lovely to see it restored as a co-working hub and office space. It wasn’t open when I was there, but it looks lovely from the outside.

I took a walk along the canal, it was so calm and peaceful, with so many shades of green, just beautiful. I bought cards from Rainy Days and Inspirations; it’s a lovely gift shop and well worth a visit.
That was my Saturday adventure in Ballinamore.
