I’m a big fan of Honestly Kitchen; I’ve visited both the Carrick one and the Strandhill one many times. You can read about lunch at the Carrick on Shannon one here. I’m always up and out bright and early, so I was delighted to hear about the new opening hours in Carrick on Shannon.

The drive-thru is now open from 8am every morning, so if you are up and about early, and want something on the go, it’s the perfect option. If you prefer to eat in the restaurant, you can do so from 9am.

Honestly Kitchen, Carrick on Shannon, serve breakfast, brunch, chargrilled burgers, salads, sandwiches and soup, locally roasted coffee and freshly baked breads and desserts. They offer ethical carnivore, vegetarian and vegan, free-from and kid’s options. They are open 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays for Eat In, Take Away and Drive Thru.

I was delighted to be asked along to try out something from their new menu, which includes my favourite açai bowls. They also serve Eggs Benedict, vegetarian and vegan friendly Farmer’s breakfast and more. Everything is fresh and farm to fork, and you can taste the difference.

You can expect friendly service, and organic ingredients from their farm in all their dishes. Their beef is home reared Dexter certified organic, and the salads are home grown. Drumanilra Farm is just down the road, so you can’t get fresher than that.

I loved my açai bowl, it was quite different to the ones I usually have as the bases are usually frozen, and this one wasn’t. This meant that I didn’t get brain freeze, and I was able to eat it all in one sitting. It was also served in a proper bowl, not a plastic container, as is usually the case with the açai bowls that I’ve has before. I loved the selection of chopped fruit that was on top of it.

I had an iced caramel latte to go along with it. It’s been such beautiful weather that an iced coffee is the perfect drink, although I was tempted by the milkshakes and smoothies. I also noticed the chocolate lovers’ pancakes and the banoffee pancakes, which are new to the menu – and I will have to go back and try, they sound amazing!
Thank you so much to Honestly Kitchen for inviting me along, I will be back again soon.
