Happy Sunday, this week is an even better Sunday because it’s a bank holiday weekend for St. Patrick’s Day, so today feels like a Saturday. I keep waking up at around 6am, possibly due to the mornings getting lighter, or the birds tapping on the roof, or maybe I need my B12 levels checked. Anyway, I’m rambling. To cut a long story short, it means that I get out for a long walk, or an explore, and it’s been great, even if I am flagging in the evening.

The weather has been gorgeous this week. I don’t mind the cold nights, if we have blue skies and no rain. I’ve even got a few loads of washing dry outside too. You were all so lovely to me when I was writing my ‘woe is me’ blog posts, no one told me to cop on, so thank you for that. A special thanks to those who left me a tip, and the kind person who left a voucher in The Pod for me (I can try the MoCrumble), I have no idea who they are, so if you are reading this, please send me a message, I’d like to say a proper thank you.

I’ve had a busy week, with lots of different things happening. I got to see Lucy, and that meant checking out a new café in Ballaghaderreen– it’s called Foile á Deux, and it’s a lovely place. I just got a takeaway smoothie and iced coffee, but they have vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and they are very nice people too. It also meant a visit to Duffy’s SuperValu, the best one for bargains.

Thursday night was Clublandia, this is Sligo’s accessible nightclub, and Jono loves going. He doesn’t stay for very long as he finds it exhausting, so I wait nearby. I usually wander around the town, but this time I went to The Glasshouse for dinner, which was gorgeous – and you can read about that here.
On Friday I ran the #heartofireland day on social media, I’ve done it a few times, but this one was a struggle. Not many people joined in, and I’m really finding the reach of posts is not the same as it used to be. Especially on Twitter, now that Mr. Musk has taken over. The posts that get seen the most are ones where people are fighting, and nice photos of Ireland certainly don’t fit that. I’d say that it will be my last day that I run, it’s all good though, learning what works and what doesn’t. I’m not going to miss it because it’s a lot of work, and a long day tied to the computer. Thanks so much to those who did join in, it was lovely to see the posts, and I’m always inspired to visit places after I see them.
I had the best morning yesterday. I was out early; the grass was covered in frost, and it was a chilly -2 degrees. I had a date with some alpacas, but I wanted to get a bit of exploring in first. As I drove along the N4 the mist rising over the fields was just stunning. I had to stop the car to look properly, and there were other people doing the same thing. It was like looking at a painting, just breathtaking. The photo at the top of the blog post doesn’t really do it justice, it was incredible.

I headed to Carrick on Shannon and took a walk along the river, it was just me and the birds. I watched the swans gliding along, and the mist rising over the water. The sun was starting to melt the ice, and it was just so peaceful.

Breakfast was calling and I went to Tegi’s Tea Room in Carrick Golf Club, what a breakfast it was! I’ve written about it here.

Next stop was Knockvicar Alpacas, this is a wonderful place to visit. I will write a proper blog post about it soon. I had been back in the early days of the alpaca farm, I was in the depths of depression then, and it did me the world of good to spend some time with these beautiful animals. It’s great to see that they are now open to the public, and you can book a farm tour (which I did), or go walking with an alpaca. Again, I’ll tell you more about that soon, but follow them on Instagram, I had to go after seeing Liath’s magnificent fringe, and it was so worth it!

It’s St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, and there are a lot of events on in Sligo, you can read more about them here. I might go to one of the smaller parades, rather than the town one. I’ll see what the weather is like. I hope you all enjoy the bank holiday, however you spend it. Thanks for reading.
great to be busy, great to be out
