Sunday Thoughts

It’s that time of the week again, grab a cuppa, put the feet up, and have a read. Although to be honest, it’s been one of the quietest weeks that I’ve ever had. The weather was like winter weather, and we just aren’t geared up for that in Ireland, and things tend to grind to a halt.

We didn’t have it too bad, compared to my friend, who is around ten minutes away and was snowed in. We did get ice though, and one day of snow, see the photo above. I hate driving and walking in it, so I just stayed at home.

I finally got out yesterday to do a bit of shopping, I also got to visit The Hamilton Gallery and see The Winter Gathering Exhibition. I was going to visit before Christmas, but I was so busy rushing around, and my head wasn’t really in the right space, so I finally got there. It’s a beautiful exhibition, it has work from invited artists, and there really is something for everyone. It runs until January 25th, so you still have time to visit, and if you can’t get it, you can view it online.

Today I met a friend for coffee, it’s been so long since I’ve seen anyone outside the family, and I was like an over-excited puppy! Apologies to my friend! It was lovely to catch up with her though, and I really enjoyed our chats. Above is the Snickers Croissant at Tempo in Ballisodare, I had one today, it was wonderful.

I spent most of yesterday ripping the house apart looking for a camera battery. I have an old bridge camera that I’ve cleaned up, but I couldn’t find the battery anywhere, I did find a new electric toothbrush though – random! I also cleared out two bags of rubbish while I was looking, so that was another bonus. I couldn’t believe it when I went back into my room hours later and there was the battery looking at me! It was in a place I’d looked before, and it wasn’t there. It’s mad when things like that happen. Anyway, I did a little camera walk this morning, and it’s like having a new gadget, I think I’ll use this more often, it’s got a great zoom, and it’s not heavy like my ‘proper’ camera. The photo at the top of the blog was taken today, it’s at Glenwood, between Ballisodare and Coolaney.

I’ve been seeing quite a lot of posts on social media about the ‘Let them’ theory, made popular by Mel Robbins, and it got me thinking. I’ve always said that you can’t do anything about the way people treat you, but you can choose how you respond to it. To cut a long story short, I had what I thought was a very good friend, it turned out that they weren’t, and a lot of things went on, which I’m not going to go into. Anyway, they decided to cut me out of their life, which honestly was a blessing in disguise. I saw them recently, and I know they saw me because they were hanging around, not wanting to make eye contact or walk anywhere near me. Life is way too short for drama, and I really hope they are happy. If they had walked near me, I’d have just said hello and carry on about my day.

My recent podcast episode is doing well. I chatted to Siobhan O’Farrell Nutrition, she helped me so much when I was really struggling, I wrote about that here. It makes so much sense that the food we eat can impact so much of our lives. You can listen to our chat on the podcast platform, or as I know some of you struggle with that, I’ve added it below:

I’ve finally started painting again, and I did the painting below. It’s my version of the Gleniff Horseshoe photo that I took. It’s so nice to be back doing something that I love, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind for a long time, but it’s certainly one of my happy places.

I hope you are all keeping well and warm, and thanks as always for reading.
