Festivals in Sligo 2025

The Sligo festivals for 2025 begin at the end of January, and while all the dates haven’t been finalised, I thought I’d start a post, so you that you what you can look forward to during the year. I’ll update this post with dates as soon as I see them, so keep checking back.

24th to 26th January 2025. The Yeats Winter School is a 2 day event held annually at the end of January at the Sligo Park Hotel. Facebook page.

29th January – 3rd February. The Bríd Festival Sligo. This is a creative arts festival celebrating St. Brigid, her energy, spirt and ingenuity. Follow the Facebook page to find out more. Dedicated blog post coming soon.

10th – 15th February. The SO Funny Sligo Comedy Festival. Laugh your way around County Sligo, with some of Ireland’s favourite comedians. Read my full blog post here. Check out the festival website here.

28th February – 8th March. The Western Drama Festival 2025 Three-Act Festival. Taking place in Tubbercurry, tickets on sale soon. Follow the Facebook page to find out more.

March (in and around the 17th). Sligo St. Patrick’s Day Festival. The highlight of the festival is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade through Sligo town, but there are usually other events, including the Trad. Trail, taking place. Follow the Facebook page to find out more.

1st – 31st May. The Bealtaine Festival, this is a nationwide event that celebrates creativity as we age. You can find out more about the Bealtaine Sligo Festival on the Facebook page.

June. Sligo County Fleadh. Keep an eye on the Facebook page.

20th to 22nd June Knocklane Festival. Traditional music. All welcome to Maugherow ,North Sligo for music, song and dance to celebrate our wonderful traditions. Keep an eye on Benbulben Comhaltas for updates.

June. Cruinniú na nÓg. A day of free creativity for children and young people. Details are posted on the Sligo Library Facebook Page.

Friday June 20th – Sunday June 22nd. The Wild Atlantic Way International Shanty Festival, Rosses Point, Sligo. In support of the RNLI. Check out the festival website here.

5th – 12th July. Cairde Sligo Arts Festival. This annual event is a celebration of imagination and shared experience that welcomes all. Lots of the events are family friendly, and some of them are free, including the always amazing Parkfest. Check out the festival website here.

18th – 20th July. Ballygawley Music Festival. Sligo`s annual 3-night music festival which plays host to the best of Irish acts and has revellers from all over Ireland, the UK and Europe. Website.

22nd – 27th July. Sligo Jazz Project and festival. This annual summer school has grown to become one of Europe’s most important and inspiring jazz education events. The accompanying festival is a unique mixture of concerts, featuring the members of the summer school faculty and guest acts. Check out the festival website here.

July. The Black Pig Festival in Enniscrone. A weekend of family friendly fun and entertainment. Facebook page.

July. The James Morrison Festival in Riverstown. Traditional music and dance. Keep a look on Riverstown CCE for updates.

13th – 19th July. The South Sligo Summer School. The South Sligo Summer School of Traditional Music, Song and Dance was established in Tubbercurry, County Sligo, Ireland in 1987. Website.

July. Tread Softly Festival. A festival dedicated to working collaboratively with artists and communities inspired by the landscape, mythology and people of Sligo. https://www.treadsoftly.ie/

July 23 — August 1 2025. Yeats International Summer School. Facebook page.

August. Ballymote Heritage Weekend. Facebook here.

Saturday 9th to Wednesday 13th August. Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival. Family entertainment, live music, dance and demonstrations, fun and excitement for the whole family. Website.

August. Sligo Summer Festival. Live music, taking place in Queen Maeve Square, Sligo town. Dates and acts to follow. Facebook page.

5th – 7th September 2025. Wild & Well Festival. A weekend celebration of community, creation, and holistic wellness in the majestic Wild West. Taking place in Collooney. Website.

September. The Paddy Killoran Traditional Music Festival. Ballymote, Co. Sligo https://www.facebook.com/ballymotecomhaltas.sligo

September. The Wild Atlantic Wag, Sligo’s festival for dogs! Taking place in Enniscrone. Visit Tails and Trails Facebook page for details.

September. The annual commemoration of the Spanish Armada in Sligo. https://spanisharmadaireland.com/

26th – 28th September. The 30th anniversary of the Sligo Baroque Music Festival. Keep a eye on the website for more updates.

October. Change Your Mind Festival. Ireland’s first mental health festival, a one day, free event. Facebook page.

End of October. Sligo Live Festival. An international music festival with events taking place across the town and county. Website.

End of October/beginning of November. Ballintogher 27th Annual Traditional Music Festival. Commemorating John Egan, Flute Player. Website.

November. Sligo Sundance Festival. Salsa, Latin Fusion, Bachta, and more. You can take weekly lessons before the festival too. Facebook page.

November. Spilt Milk Festival. A festival of music, film and art. Sligo town. Follow the Facebook page to find out more.
