Sunday Thoughts

Can you believe that it’s the last Sunday of 2024? Christmas seemed like it took months to arrive, mainly because the adverts for it started in October, and the Christmas songs started in November. The mad thing is that the shops had already moved on to Easter even before Christmas Day! The photo below was taken in Dealz, Sligo.

We had a lovely Christmas, lots of sitting around watching films and eating. The way it should be. Himself was going on about having a turkey for months before the big day, to be honest he’s the only one who likes it. He wore me down in the end and I bought one and told him he could cook it, and he did! The first time he’s ever cooked a roast, in all his 59 years!

“God, you look lovely. You’re a lovely looking bird” said himself on Christmas Day. I was just about to respond until I realised, he was talking to the turkey! At least the turkey talk is over for another year.

I’ve done a podcast of Sunday Thoughts with a lot more about the last year. I hope if you listen to it that it might give some of you hope. The big things that happened for me in 2024 weren’t even on the horizon this time last year, so we really have no idea what will happen. You can listen below, or over on the podcast channel.

The blog turns 16 in February, it’s probably one of the oldest blogs still going, and I still have no idea of what direction it’s going in! I speak more about that on the podcast. It’s broken a record for the numbers of readers, it usually has around 100,000 readers each year, this year it’s had over 160,000! I’ll do another post about the blog stats. I’m quite shocked by how many people have read it though.

I’m also shocked that people are still listening to my old radio show. I’d love to know who is listening, do let me know if it’s you. There are quite a few of the shows on the blog.

We are in those weird blurry days between Christmas and New Year, it’s hard to know what day it actually is at times! I did a blog post of some things of interest taking place in Sligo from now until New Year’s Day, you can read that here.

For now, I’ll say thank you all so much for reading, and wish you a very Happy New Year, I do say way more on the podcast, so you can listen to that if you’d like to.
