It’s the first Sunday in August, and I’m looking out of the window at the lashing rain. In fact, the weather has been the topic of conversation all ‘summer’. “Maybe July will be nice, maybe August will be sunny.” Now it’s changed to “September is usually a nice month.” I’m not holding my breath!

Last week was a good week, I got a couple of mornings of exploring, which always makes me happy. My visit to Johnnie Lawson was inspiring and relaxing. I love seeing the world through the eyes of others. You can read the blog post here.

I also got to visit the gardens of Hazelwood House last week. This was incredible, I love gardens anyway, they make me feel very relaxed, and it was lovely taking photos of the plants. I’ve been going back over photos I took of the house and factory from years ago, it’s great to have them in the archives, especially as the place has changed so much. Read the blog post about my visit here.
I’ve put some of my paintings up for sale. All funds will go towards the book printing. I have 10% off for the month of August. Add the code August in the check out: https://sligo-art.sumupstore.com
This weekend is a bank holiday weekend, and I’m not leaving the house. The weather is cat anyway, I must stop talking about the weather! Speaking of cat, I’m still looking for a large ginger cat to photograph for the book, I didn’t hear back from my original volunteer – so I’m looking at you Sian 😉 I’ll see if she reads this. I’m also looking for sparrows, not in the same photo obviously because that would be a disaster!

I woke up at 4.45am yesterday, for no reason at all. I couldn’t get back to sleep so I ended up in Bundoran, just me and the surfers – there were loads of people camping near Tullan Strand, if I had the food truck there, I’d have been open with the coffee on. I had a lovely walk along by the fairy bridge, and I sat on the wishing chair and watched the waves.

I was very excited because Humble in Bundoran opened at 8am, and it’s been on my list to visit since it opened. When I went up to visit Collie in Eclipse it was closed for renovation, so I thought yesterday was my day. I had looked at the menu, I knew what I was getting, but when I got there, they told me the kitchen didn’t open until 9am, and I could have waited but I was hungry. So, I just had a coffee and a cake, maybe it’ll be the third time lucky.

I have next week off work, and I have a day trip to Westport on the cards. I was hoping to get to Wild Ireland, but there are a couple of appointments and as I just do daytrips, I know I’d be wrecked after the trip, but I’ll get there one day. I might also get a seaweed bath, I have a couple of vouchers from my birthday, so we’ll see.
Wishing you all a lovely bank holiday weekend, and a good week ahead.
