Sunday Thoughts

It’s started to feel like summer today! I’m scared to say the s word in case I put a jinx on it. By the way, there’s said to be a connection between jinx and Sligo, I heard about it years ago on the Sligo Walking Tour of the town.

If you missed the big news this week, it’s about the book. It’s a miracle that I kept it quiet for so long. You can read all about it here. I met up with Louise again this week and it’s such a joy to be working alongside her. Here’s what Louise said on her website (isn’t it lovely?!):

“I’m delighted to be working with the wonderful photographer and social media dynamo that is Val Robus, aka Magnum Lady. She’s said it out loud now, so it will happen – a book of words and images, authored by the two of us. We’re the mothers-in-law-to-be and have known each other and admired each other’s work for ages, so it’s about time!”

Check out Louise’s website here, and if you are near Boyle head along to The Boyle Craft Shop for the Culture Friday event on August 2nd 1.00pm – 1.30pm, to hear Louise read some of her poetry.

I’m working on getting over my imposter syndrome, but I can visualise this book and I think it’s going to be something very special.

I’ve put some of my paintings up for sale, every cent will go to printing costs for the book, and I’m thrilled to have sold one already. I had no idea how expensive book printing costs and having it in full colour certainly bumps up the price. Have a look and see if there’s a painting that you might like to buy: https://sligo-art.sumupstore.com/

This week I met with a friend for a chat, it was lovely to see her again, I don’t often meet up with people, and my circle is a small one, but it was just a joy to spend some time with her. Hopefully we’ll do it again soon.

I think that’s about my news for now. Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, maybe we might even get a nice August.
