My Name on the Big Screen – Thank you Eclipse Cinema, Bundoran

I had one of the most special experiences this week. Collie from Eclipse Cinema had invited me to check out the Directors Lounge, and I finally got to do it, and I was absolutely gobsmacked by the whole experience.

This was really so special from the moment I set foot inside the cinema. Firstly the cinema is spotlessly clean and it’s so pretty! I was welcomed by Collie, and I was thrilled to see my picture on the big screen! How cool is that! The Directors Lounge is epic, the seats recline, there’s a little tray for your food and drink (you can order pizza, wine, and more!) There’s also so much leg room, you don’t have to get up to let people out.

I watched ‘That They May Face The Rising Sun’, it’s a gentle, expressive film, that tells the story of life in rural Ireland in the 1970s. It bought back a lot of memories of childhood holidays in Connemara to visit my cousins.

I also got to see the projection room and find out how the films are shown! It really was amazing. You can hear all about this wonderful cinema on my podcast episode with Collie. You can also hear how you can see your name on the big screen when you hire a screen for your private party or event. We discussed our favourite films, and how Collie will dress as David Bowie if they show Labyrinth – one of my favourite movies. We also talked about plans to show Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of the War of the Worlds – which I think would be epic!

The cinema has 6 screens, and they show all the latest films, but not only that, they bring back films you might have missed every Monday, ‘Missed it Monday’ is just €5! They have a special offer every Tuesday with all films, on all screens, (except the Directors Lounge) just €5.95.

Eclipse Cinemas is so much more than a cinema, it’s a community, they are home to the Bundoran Film Club, the parent and toddler movie club, they host screenings for school plays, and they are working on a project with transition year students.

Thanks so much to Collie for such an excellent experience, if you would like to hire a screen, you can contact colm@eclipsecinemas.com and visit the cinema website here.
