I asked my blog readers and social media followers about their favourite places in Sligo for coffee and cake, and I got some wonderful suggestions. I did ask for people not to suggest a place that they are affiliated with, but I have no way of checking, so keep this in mind. There are some great suggestions though, and some that I haven’t visited yet, so I’ve put them on my list. Happy reading.
Eamon: That’s a difficult one, with Sligo Town having a wealth of choice. I have to vote for O’Hehirs in O’Connell St. arcade. Their cream doughnut is heavenly.

Lulum: Osta Café is a great spot in the town, fantastic coffee and the food is gorgeous. The staff are always really accommodating with children too and always seem very helpful.
Chakra: I really like Caffè Nero lately for a coffee and cake by myself although usually I don’t like chains, you feel as though you can stay for as long as you want and is lovely and quiet in the mornings and evenings, good selection of cakes and coffee is nice! I found it’s a good place to write (with your earphones in) and felt good and calm there looking out the window, I also noticed some others writing on their laptops too. Really nice cafe “vibe” there and they have good light which makes you feel uplifted on a nice day, plus there is parking and it’s central. It is the first cafe chain I actually like, I wouldn’t go in at lunchtime though, it’s far to hectic and a little stressful. Hooked is also nice for a coffee and cake, you tend to feel as though you have your own space there which is nice and the interior is so satisfying, staff are always lovely and their sweet treats are delicious, again you feel as though you can stay for as long as you like. I haven’t been to Osta in a long time but it’s nice for cake and coffee, again the light is great, and the water is so calming. (I love cafes, so please excuse this essay, but I enjoy talking about them!)
Maeve: Driftwood Coffee Cart at the Strandhill People’s Market.
Thanks so much to everyone who told me their suggestions, much appreciated, it’s nice to have a few more to add to my list.
