High Street, Sligo

If you are a regular reader of the blog, you will know that I usually focus on all things positive about Sligo, but I was walking up the High Street in Sligo town yesterday, and I just can’t ignore the state of some of the buildings.

One building has major cracks in it, the pavement in front of it has been cordened off, but that’s not going to stop potential damage to people and property if the building starts to fall down.

Other buildings also need a lot of tlc, and that’s putting it mildly, with plants growing from buildings, and signs falling down. Sligo Tidy Towns have made a big effort with fake windows on some of them and they have painted some of the buildings, and they are to be commended, some of the buildings are beyond that kind of work though.

I really feel sorry for the people who are running businesses on the High Street, they have their buildings looking so well, and it must be very demoralising for them to see the place in such a bad state of repair.

I’ll let the photos I took speak for themselves.
