Happy Sunday, it’s also St. Patrick’s Day, so I hope that you have a lovely day if you celebrate. I’m having a quiet day at home this year, but I might watch the live stream of the Sligo parade.
This week I’m reminded of the kindness of people. My blog was due for renewal, that’s this page, my wordpress site. It’s really bad timing as it’s a bad month for bills, with my car insurance,, and other bills also due. I was looking at my dwindling bank account and really contemplating letting the blog lapse. It would have been a real shame, as there’s 15 years of content, and also it’s my ‘go to’ home on the Internet. It’s home to Sunday Thoughts, and other blog posts that I wouldn’t write on my social media pages.
Anyway, I put a post up on Facebook, with the screenshot of what it costs me, and just said I thought it was time for me to let it go, as it’s just another bill. Some of my lovely blog readers donated to my Ko-Fi page, which was just wonderful and so heartwarming. I wasn’t expecting that, I suppose I was hoping I might get sponsorship from a business or organisation, I certainly didn’t expect my readers to donate.
What happened next just blew me away. I got a message from a long term blog reader, I consider this person to be a friend although we’ve never actually met because they don’t live in Ireland. Anyway, this lovely person paid for my blog subscription for a year. I’m just so touched, and grateful, and I’m very happy to have my blog home for another year. Thank you so much to that person, and to all the others who donated. It’s really very much appreciated.
I also got an email from a lovely Sligo business offering to pay for the blog for two years, they didn’t want me to mention their name. There are such wonderful people out there.
