Once again it’s been a while since I’ve written a Sunday Thoughts blog post. We are now into Autumn and the weather has started to turn colder, it was lovely to see all the butterflies this month though, I’ve never seen as many. It seemed like as soon as I ushered one outside, another came in.
The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster, but it’s calmer now thankfully (fingers crossed as I type this). I feel that sometimes I can be tipping along nicely and suddenly something happens to put a halt to my gallop, and it’s always something that’s out of my control. It’s so awful to see the people that you love having to go through things and knowing that there isn’t a thing that you can do about it, except to be there for them.

Anyway, on to other things. The Hands of Sligo project is going really well, and I’m really enjoying meeting people. It’s lovely how open and honest they are with me and I love hearing their stories. I’m in the process of putting the voice recordings up on the blog and on social media, I think I will start a podcast channel for them, it might be easier for people to navigate them. I’ll be at a bit of a loss when the project ends, it’s been a very good thing for me to be involved in, emotional at times, but so worth it.

Lucy turned 28 during the week, the years are flying. I have such a wonderful relationship with both my children, and I’m so blessed to have them and to be so close to them. It makes me think about the relationship I had with my mother, and makes me think of how different that could have been. You can’t change the past though.

Me and Jono went up to Enniskillen last weekend, the annual model railway exhibition was on and it was a lovely day out. I had a look around some of the shops too, there’s a beautiful skincare shop that’s well worth a visit. It’s called Enniskinn and it’s on the Main Street in the town. It’s been a while since we were last there and it’s sad to see some of the shops have closed down. I also had a quick look around Asda, but I’m shocked at how expensive things are now, there was a time when everything was much cheaper there, but not these days. Brexit I’d guess.
That’s my update for now, I hope you are all keeping well, and thank you for reading.
I think the hands of Sligo on a podcast would be great Val. I rarely have time to spend just when I see your posts and never seem to get back to them.
Yes I agree Enniskillen is looking a bit sad these days despite our new street-scaping. The new murals popping up are nice though.
Thanks Ann, I think it would be handy for people to listen to them when they are out walking.
I love the new murals but was shocked at how many shops have gone
