Sligo Food News – July 2023

I have some Sligo food things to tell you about. I don’t know about you but I find it hard to keep up with some of the things on social media because it’s so fast moving, so I thought I’d add some things on the blog.

First up I finally got to try Thai Pots in The Canopy Sligo (Johnston Court), it’s amazing! Possibly the nicest curry I’ve had in a long time and it’s easy to see how they won Takeaway of the Year in The Food Awards Ireland. I’m told the gluten free curry is wonderful too.

Fish & Bean celebrated two years in business last month, they are based in Rosses Point and I’m a big fan. Well worth a visit, find them at the Yacht Club overlooking the ocean.

Miss Suzy Sligo is opening on Castle Street, Sligo in the coming days/weeks. The ultimate in Korean & Japanese cuisine in the heart of Sligo Town. https://www.facebook.com/MissSuzySligo Thanks to Sligo Moments for letting me use their photo, check them out here: https://www.instagram.com/sligomoments/

Branch Cafe and Winebar are celebrating one year in business. You can find them in the Yeats Memorial Building, Sligo. Read my previous post to find out more. https://magnumlady.com/2023/04/12/branch-cafe-and-wine-bar-sligo/

Taste of Sligo Food Tours are now taking bookings for group tours. Find out more on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tasteofsligotours

Lyons Bakery celebrates 10 years in business. Opened to complement Lyons Cafe upstairs and a joy to visit and pick up tasty bread and treats to takeaway.

Enjoy a unique seafood experience on the Sligo Oyster Farm Tour, guided by Aisling, owner of Sligo Oyster Experience. You’ll learn all about oysters and get to see some beautiful scenery too. Tours take place on Fridays during the summer. https://sligooysterexperience.ie/

Carrowgarry Farm have launched their website, and you can enjoy fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables delivered to your door, or collect at the farm. Wednesday: delivery to Ballisodare and Strandhill route. Friday: delivery to Coolaney and Collooney. Shop here: https://carrowgarryfarm.ie/

Osta Cafe and Wine Bar are delighted to finally be able to include their own #100% grassfed dexter beef burgers on their menu. Brid and Marc have been regeneratively farming in Co Cavan so that they can bring you the very best beef.

CocoBoba is a bubble tea brand that opened in The Canopy, Sligo (Johnston Court) a few months ago. They serve milk and fruit bubble teas, and a range of smoothies too.

And finally, I was sad to read that Sweet Beat will not be opening again. Wishing Carolanne all the very best wishes for the future, it was great to have a vegan/vegetarian cafe in Sligo town and I was looking forward to it opening in Strandhill. Read the full post here.

I hope this post was of interest to you, let me know if you’d like to see similar posts.

  1. A great post. To the point and still very informative. I’m sadly not down Sligo way so much. The odd overnight in Mullaghmore is as much as I can manage. Hope all well with you and your family.
