I was delighted to finally get to The New Art and Craft Fair in Sligo town today. I’ve heard great things about it from so many people so I was delighted to go along to see for myself.

It’s in the stunning Gillooly Hall, opposite the Cathedral, the hall dates back to the 1880s and it’s a really beautiful building and the perfect setting for the fair.

I was blown away by not only the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, but also the amount of talented people in one building. There really are some amazing artists and crafts people out there and to have them all at one event is just fantastic.

The fair is the brainchild of artist Elizabeth Valentine, and she’s gone above and beyond to make it a success. I’d really recommend a visit to this weekly event, which takes place every Saturday from 10am – 4pm. I bought some gorgeous things, including stickers for my car – which I love!

I also bought a tie dyed t-shirt, some cards and a handmade box from Arty Graeme and a glass engraved with a French Bulldog from Roscomart. Many of the artist take requests for commisions and if you are looking for that special gift for someone I’d say you’ll find it here.
There’s also a café serving refreshments including cakes made by their in-house baker, sandwiches, quiches and more.
