Following on from the very popular great gift ideas blog post I’ve decided to do one dedicated to drinks. Once again these are from businesses thinking inside the box, the pubs in particular are closed due to the pandemic but they’ve come up with ways that you can support them and treat yourself or a loved one to a fantastic gift. All of these offer Nationwide delivery in Ireland, and some deliver to other countries.
First up is Thomas Connolly in Sligo. This is a heritage pub which was first licensed in 1861. Think of snugs and bags of atmosphere, live music, and friendly faces. This place is one that you must put on your list if you visit Sligo. They have some fantastic whiskey gift boxes, they also have merchandise, including hoodies, t-shirts and more, and they host The Sligo Whiskey Society.
Kinsale Mead have a variety of their drinks for sale, they also have Talk and Tasting evenings where you can spend an hour with the mead makers. You’ll be exploring mead and honey through Irish tales, myths and history, and sampling a selection of Kinsale Meads.
Step into the curious mind of PJ Rigney at The Shed Distillery. This is the home of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin, there’s a fantastic tour that you have to go on when it opens again. I’ve written about it here. Anyway I’m rambling, check out their shop here, they sell their range of drinks and a range of merchandise too.
The Grace O’Malley whiskey and gin brand is dedicated to the legendary Irish pirate queen, Grainne Ní Mháille/Grace O’Malley, also known as Granuaile. They sell a very interesting sounding gin infused with Irish heather, they also have a range of whiskeys. You can shop here.
