I was invited along to Lissadell House for the Harvest Home for the North West event yesterday. I had to hand out prizes for the adult art competition, I’m delighted I didn’t have to judge it as the standard was so high. There was a bit of a scary moment when I arrived at the house and Gilbert (the car) almost got stuck in the mud! Parking in fields in Ireland on a rainy day don’t mix.
There were all kinds of goodies to buy and taste. I’d say there were over 40 different stalls. There were also cooking demos and competitions. Farmyard in your Schoolyard were there with their lovely animals – the top photo is Moon, the sheep.
There was a display of the potatoes that grow at Lissadell. Who’d have thought there were so many different types!
I really enjoyed going off for a wander around the grounds and gardens, away from the crowds.
I spotted this kite surfer from the Alpine Gardens, I’d love to have a go at this…if I ever get over my wet suit phobia 😉
I really like the ‘security guard’ 😉 The rest of my photos from the day are here.
Great to see Lissadell, even from a distance. Thanks.
