Enniskillen Castle

In between the model railway exhibition and the traction engines arriving in Enniskillen we got to visit the castle. It’s a place I’ve wanted to visit for a long time but am usually shopping, so it was great to get a chance to go there.

Enniskillen Castle is situated on the banks of the River Erne in County Fermanagh. It’s a beautiful location. The castle was built almost 600 years ago. The site now houses two museums; Fermanagh County Museum and The Inniskillings Museum.

There’s quite a lot to see in the buildings especially if you are interested in the war. It’s a shame the castle doesn’t open until 2pm on a Saturday though. I saw a lot of people trying to get in before then.

It just goes to show that there is a lot more to Enniskillen then just the shopping and it certainly made a nice change to see the other things the town has to offer.

The rest of my photos are here.
