A Sweet New Chapter for Yellow Bird Bakes in Sligo

There’s something special about a small business that refuses to give up – and Yellow Bird Bakes is exactly that kind of story.

Linda first opened her charming little bakery last year, tucked away at the back of Armstrong’s Cashsavers on High Street. It quickly became a spot for locals with a sweet tooth, known for its freshly baked cakes and cookies made with care. So when the shop sadly closed and Linda lost her bakery, it felt like a real loss to the community.

But good things don’t stay gone for long.

After spending some time searching for the right new home, Linda has now reopened Yellow Bird Bakes in a lovely new setting – the Bourbon Bar on Rockwood Parade in Sligo town.

You’ll find all the delicious homemade cakes and cookies, baked fresh on site. But now, you can also grab a coffee, sit in, and really enjoy the experience. Or relax on one of the benches outside, with a peaceful view of the river, complete with swans gliding by.

I called in over the weekend to wish Linda all the best in her new venture, and I was lucky enough to meet Robin – the inspiration behind the name Yellow Bird Bakes. Linda shared that Robin is her “little bird,” and it’s clear that this bakery is built not just on talent, but on love and personal meaning too.

It’s always inspiring to see someone start again, and Linda has done just that – with warmth, determination, and a passion for baking.

If you’re in Sligo, it’s well worth a visit.

Opening hours:
