The Sligo Junction Filling Station in Collooney now includes Supermac’s, along with Papa John’s, Insomnia and Subway, giving travellers and locals plenty of options if they need a quick bite or a coffee on the go. The location is handy for those of us living on the South side of Sligo, and it’s great for people travelling to Dublin or Galway.

The site has been under construction for quite a while, and I had spotted the signs last year saying that these brands were coming soon, but there was no opening date at the time, so it’s nice to see everything up and running now.

Of course, if you’re going to write about Supermac’s, you really should sample something. I treated myself to a Moozie, it’s an ice cream sundae, and I’m always torn about what flavour the go for, but Ferrero Rocher won this time. Jono and I went another time and shared a Papa John’s pizza, which was lovely.

The place is bright and clean, with plenty of seating, and there was a steady stream of people coming in and out while I was there.
It’s great to see new food options opening in the area. Whether you’re grabbing a takeaway after work, meeting someone for a coffee, or just stopping on a longer journey, this new stop is going to be very handy.

And having a selection of food experiences under one roof means there’s something for everyone. I also noticed a Smooday machine – Ireland’s First Self-Serve Smoothies, and the deli counter is still there too. Plus the grocery area has been expanded too.

Well done to all involved, it’s great to see it open.
