Sligo Food News – March 2026

I didn’t put out a call for Sligo Food News this month, as I’ve found that very few establishments tend to get back to me – even after a follow-up email. I completely understand that everyone is incredibly busy, and I’m genuinely delighted to see places doing so well.

The Glasshouse Hotel has an incredible theme night running every Thursday this month. It’s Sri Lankan Curry night, and it’s incredible. You can read more about it on my blog here. Pre-booking is essential.

Ósta cafe in Sligo town is now opening at the earlier time of 7.30am from Monday to Friday. It’s a good excuse to head in early and miss the traffic.

Mc G Cakes on Grattan Street, Sligo town, is open right through to Easter, fully stocked with gifts, cakes and fresh flowers from Olga at The Flower Shed. It’s a one stop shop for Mother’s Day.

Supermacs, Papa Johns, Insomnia and Subway, have opened at Sligo Gate in Collooney. Photo at the top of the blog is a Moozie at Supermacs.

The Sligo Markets

Sligo Farmers Market is on every Saturday from 9am – 1pm at the ATU Sligo. You can find local and organic food, craft and more.

Cliffoney Country Market is on the first and third Sunday of the month in Cliffoney Village Hall from 11m – 1pm. The market has locally grown vegetables, jams, baked goods, crafts, and a used/reused stall.

Beltra Country Market reopens on March 7th. They are back in Beltra Hall from 10.00am – 12.30pm. You can find a selection of local, home produced food and crafts to browse. They also have a tearoom.

Sligo Indoor Market is back in The Canopy shopping centre. Starting from Saturday 7th March & Sunday 8th March – 11am – 4pm.

Workshops and Courses

March 14th at Neantog. There’s a fermented foods and drinks with Gaby & Hans. This is a complete introductory course (completely updated) to become a home fermenter with a practical making session, tastings of all ferments and starters/scobies to take home. Mother’s Day is on March 15th, and so many places are doing special menus, there’s too many to list on this post. I’d say early booking would be advisable.
