I was delighted to be invited along to The Glasshouse for their latest theme night, and what a treat it was. The Sri Lankan Curry Experience is back by popular demand, and after this visit, I can completely understand why.
From the moment we sat down, it felt like a feast for the senses. Gold tablecloths, spices, leaves and thoughtful details dressed the tables beautifully, setting the scene perfectly for the evening ahead. There was a wonderful buzz in the room too – relaxed, welcoming, and full of anticipation.
Jono was my dining buddy for the night, and as he can’t eat onions, the team couldn’t have been more accommodating. They kindly offered him an option from the bar menu instead, and he happily tucked into chicken wings and chips, and he loved them.
Sri Lankan Curry Experience
Thursday Theme Menu – Limited Time Only. 6pm – 8pm
The Sri Lankan Curry Night runs as a special Thursday theme menu and is exceptional value. For €59 per couple, you’re treated to an authentic curry dish with sides, a glass of local beer, a glass of house wine or a soft drink, followed by a sweet dessert treat. Prebooking is essential.
There are four curries to choose from:
- Negombo Red Chicken Curry
- Galle Authentic Fish Curry
- Jaffna Lamb Black Curry
- Moju Eggplant Curry
All are served with Sri Lankan yellow rice, coconut sambal, mango chutney and Poppadoms.
I chose the Moju Eggplant Curry, and wow! It was absolutely delicious. So rich, so deeply flavourful, and beautifully balanced. I was still thinking about it the next morning, which says it all. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had anything quite so full of flavour. Even the rice was incredible – fragrant and perfectly seasoned.
To finish, we were treated to a mini mango sorbet cone, which was refreshing and lovely. And then came the icing on the cake -quite literally – a dessert with Happy Birthday written on it for me, as my birthday had been on Tuesday. Such a thoughtful touch and completely unexpected.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and one I’d highly recommend. The value is exceptional, the food is outstanding, and the atmosphere makes it feel like a proper occasion.
