I’ve seen a few things of interest online, and I also put a call out for Valentine’s Menus, not many got back to me, but here’s a round-up with some news, and thanks to the people who contacted me. It’s also pancake day in February (on my birthday!) and I’d have loved some pancake day news, but I haven’t seen any yet. The photo at the top of the post is from Grá Bistro in Dromore West, they have pancakes as part of their breakfast menu, and they are amazing.

The best chips in Ireland are in Riverstown! Congratulations to Fernando’s who won two awards in the Irish Takeaway Awards – not just the best chips in Ireland, but also the best onion rings in Connaught.

Mc G Cakes on Grattan Street, Sligo town, reopen on February 6th, right through to Easter, fully stocked with all the Valentine’s treats, gifting and fresh flowers from Olga at The Flower Shed. It’s a one stop shop this Valentine’s Day. I have to say, the Smores brownies above look amazing.

Pasta Fresca! has lots of news for February. Their specials for February are:
- Beetroot Ravioli w/Mascarpone & Walnut
- Irish Seaweed Spaghetti
- Olive & Anchovies Sauce
- Fontina Cheese & Cavallo Nero pasta bake
- Chocolate Pudding w/Raspberry Compote
They also have a special Valentine’s Box available to order for Valentine’s Day containing a pasta meal kit and dessert for two. These are €35 each and they just have a limited quantity available.
They also have a few spaces left available for our Valentine’s inspired Pasta-Making Workshop on Sunday, 15th February (2.30pm to 5pm approx). This costs €75 per person and you’ll learn how to make 3 different types of fresh pasta from scratch. Ósta has a new menu. I love the sound of the breakfast potatoes, and the homemade potato cakes, so I think I’ll have to treat myself one morning. You can find them alongside the river in Sligo town. They are open daily from 7.45 am and open until 7pm on Thursday & Friday. It’s worth remembering that they have a music session from 5pm – 7pm on Thursday evenings.

If you went to Strandhill People’s Market, you would know Jessie from Driftwood Coffee, she’s now in St. Angela’s College, on the shores of Lough Gill. Open Mon-Thursday 8.30am-3.30pm, Friday 8.30-1.30pm. I think this might be term time. Find her on Facebook.

Cranmore Community Café is back tomorrow Wednesday 4th February 10.30 am – 12.30pm. They are open every Wednesday.
Jenny’s Cafe (From the Ground Up) has a new location. They are now in Kingsbridge Hospital, Sligo. I’m not sure of the opening days and hours, but you can find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057369653945
FOAM at The Model is now open from 8.30AM weekdays for all your pre work/college/school needs. Plenty of delicious grab-n-go morning options alongside your daily brew. Takeaway or sit in.
