I asked my blog readers and social media followers about their favourite places in County Sligo for breakfast, and I got some wonderful suggestions. Happy reading:
Eamon: Lyons do the best veggie breakfast in the county, and I’ve near enough tried them all.
Susan: Lyons for Sligo town and Nook for Collooney area both delicious and able to change things on dishes to suit the customers, very accommodating.
Declan: Not a vegetarian, but the vegetarian breaky at Lyons is great.
Karen: Lyons cafe fabulous breakfast.
Emmi: French toast with bacon at Lyons.
Michelle: Lyon’s do a lovely breakfast selection.
The Glasshouse tell me they do a full hotel breakfast available for walk-in’s (which I didn’t know and have to check it out!). Then they have a light morning selection after 10:30am.
Laura: The Glasshouse, fabulous buffet.

Sian: Veggie Breakfast in Cawley’s Hotel Tubbercurry and Vegan Breakfast in From the ground up 2020 (Jenny’s Café) in Tubbercurry. Both venues are more than happy to cater for my challenging dietary requirements. Photo of my ‘tweeked’ Breakfast at Jenny’s.
Another vote for Jenny’s at from the ground up, and also Dock 84 from Graínne.
Johanna: loves Cawley’s in Tubbercurry: fabulous food and service & not just breakfast.
Audrey: I want to nominate Cawley’s Hotel Tubbercurry for their breakfasts. The full Irish is absolutely delicious and amazing. Ya can’t beat a good hearty breakfast and the best thing is they just across the road from me which makes it too hard to resist.

Lisa: The full Irish at the The Dapper Duck, Gurteen – it will keep ya going for the day (pic above).

Peter: Osta in Sligo town for the egg breakfasts.
Keith: Eggs benny or French toast with bacon at Osta Cafe, awesome food, friendly atmosphere and nice outlook on the Garavogue
Jeanne: Anything at Shells Cafe in Strandhill.
Eilisha: Blackbird in Strandhill (Sligo Airport) for sure! Everything is amazing and so worth a visit!
Joe: The Works, Sligo town. I have the mini breakfast. The regular is too much for me. So if you want a good feed this is the place. Very friendly staff too.
Phyllis: The Cottage, Rosses Point.

Jay: I’m not sure if I have a favourite place as I don’t often go out for breakfast, but I had a delicious breakfast from Tempo in Ballisodare last week (pic above). I don’t eat meat and I find that a lot of places that offer vegetarian/vegan options are very avocado or mushroom heavy which I don’t like.
Sarah: Tempo, Ballisodare.
Lisa: Tempo – anything there is delicious.
Mary: I love the breakfast in Murphy’s Hotel Tubbercurry. Always fresh and a very full plate. Always good.
Karen: Anois in Cliffoney
Thanks so much to everyone for their recommendations. I’m hungry now after reading them all! I didn’t put any of my suggestions in because I’d be here all day! The pic at the top of the blog is Ripples at The Riverside Hotel, Sligo town.
