I’m often over in Ballaghaderreen, because my daughter lives near there, and I was delighted to hear that Bríd Graham and her husband John recently reopened the swimming pool there, the pool was closed for two years and it’s wonderful for the community to have it open again.
The new pool brings Splash Swim Schools to nine venues across the country – including Sligo, Waterford, Limerick, Cork, Galway, and now Roscommon. Since they started back in 2015, they have helped over 6,000 swimmers of all ages gain this life-saving, life-enhancing skill. From 12-week-old babies to adults finding confidence in the water – it’s what they love to do.

I’ve known Bríd for years, she was a great supporter of Sligo Hub when I was running it, and I wanted to visit the pool and have a chat with her for the podcast. She’s one of these amazing women who seem to do everything without breaking a sweat, and I’m in awe of her.
You can hear all about Bríd and the Splash Swim Schools, the Splash Pool, the things that helped Bríd in her business, plus water safety advice on the podcast. You can also listen below:
When I was at the pool I also spoke to Ivana, and she was telling me about the aqua-aerobics classes that she teaches, they sound amazing! She also leads water confidence classes, adult swim lessons, child swim lessons and pregnancy-aqua. Bríd tells me that Ivana is always coming up with new ideas for lessons and classes within the pool, and she’s delighted to have her working there.
Thanks so much to Bríd, Ivana, and John for taking the time to speak to me for the podcast. I wish you every success in Ballaghaderreen.
