A Taste of Sri Lanka – Curry Night in The Glasshouse, Sligo

I’m not often out at night, but it was Clublandia last night, and Jono was there. I usually hang around waiting for him. When I saw that The Glasshouse was launching their curry night, that sounded like a plan for dinner, and it wasn’t just dinner, it was an experience. The table was covered in a gold table cloth, and decorated in spices and leaves, it’s the attention to detail that made it so special.

It’s €25.00 per person and you get a pint of White Hag, or a glass of house wine. I was driving so I got a zero alcohol wine, which was gorgeous. There is a choice of four different curries: Negombo Red Chicken Curry, Galle Authentic Fish Curry, Jaffna Lamb Black Curry, and Moju Eggplant Curry.

The curry is served with Sri Lanka yellow rice, Coconut sambal, Vegetable cutlet, Mango chutney, and Poppadums. I chose the chicken curry, and it was gorgeous, quite spicy, but nothing I could handle when I mixed it with the rice and chutney. Curry night is every Thursday from 6pm, and will probably run until May, so don’t miss out. Book on 071 9194300 or email events@theglasshouse.ie.

Disclaimer. I fully expected to pay for my meal, and I got such a shock when I was told it was a treat for me. Thanks so much to Kara, what a lovely and unexpected gesture.
