Well, that was an eventful week! Some things were planned, as in Lucy coming over, and some things weren’t planned – like Storm Darragh.
It was lovely to see Lucy again, we went for lunch at Funkés – it’s the first time that Lucy has been there and it’s great to have a place with a lot of vegetarian options, so that Lucy doesn’t miss out. It makes a change from a salad or a bowl of pasta.
I was meant to be going to Shannonside FM with Louise to chat to Charlie McGettigan about our book. The storm put a halt to that, as we were on a red weather warning, I’ve never known a storm like it, I thought as one stage we were going to lose the roof, I felt like I was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! We lost a fence and a tree, but somehow the electricity stayed on. I was gutted about not seeing Charlie, but it was just too dangerous to be on the road with things flying everywhere. Charlie will probably be grateful that we didn’t make it, as I know full well I’d have started ‘singing’ Rock ‘n’ roll kids.

Speaking of the book, it’s at number 4 in Liber, Sligo, and we are over the moon! What a thrill it was to see it there! I did a happy dance! Thanks so much to everyone who has bought our book, we are down to a limited number of books now and we won’t be reprinting it, so if you were thinking of getting it now would be a good time. I don’t want anyone to miss out. Find all the stockists here, and you can buy it online too.

It’s a year today since we said goodbye to Rocket-dog, it feels like it was only yesterday. I’ll never forget standing in the vets looking out the window at the Christmas lights and the rain, happy Christmas songs playing on the radio, and me leaving broken hearted. I was in SG art shop this week and I saw a vase that reminded me of him, so it came home with me. I planted a rose in his and Puggly’s memorial garden earlier this year and it bloomed again a couple of weeks ago. I like to think he’s causing mischief with Puggly wherever they are now.
I met a friend for a coffee today, it was so lovely to see her again, and we always have a great catch-up and laugh. My social circle has become very small over the past year and I’m OK with that. Sometimes the friends that you think are friends aren’t that at all, it’s all a learning curve. Anyway, positives vibes from now on.
I hope you are all keeping well and thanks as always for reading, I know there are still a lot of people without power and in some cases without water as well, I hope you all get back to normal soon. The photo at the top of the blog was taken today in Sligo town, the calm after the storm.
