Sunday Thoughts

Firstly, happy December. To be honest I’m glad to see the back of November, don’t get me wrong there have been so many lovely moments, but there’s also been some tough times too. I took a trip to The Holy Well today to light a candle for Mike, and other people who left this world too soon, and just to catch a breath. It’s one of my favourite places in Sligo, it’s so close to the town but it feels like a world away.

Happy Out – our book is tipping along. Louise wrote a brilliant blog post about the whole thing, and I can’t say it any better than she did. I will however say that although we’ve had wonderful support from so many people a lot of the people who I thought would support me haven’t at all. I don’t even mean by buying the book, even if they shared a post it would help. I think of the many businesses that I have supported in the 15 years of the blog, and all the things that I have done free of charge, and it makes me a bit sad if I’m honest. It was never about getting support, but it shows me that I’m not thought about, I’m just a publicity machine. On the other hand, there have been some really wonderful businesses who have supported the book, and these are the people I will remember in the future.

I met Louise on Monday to sign some more books, it’s always so lovely to catch up with her. We had coffee in King House Tea Rooms, it’s been my third time there in two weeks! There were two lovely dogs there enjoying a breakfast of sausages. I go a bit daft when I see dogs, it’s almost a year since we said goodbye to Rocket-dog, and I don’t think I’ll ever get another dog, losing him and Puggly smashed my heart to pieces.

Talking of animals, I looked out the window the other day and there was a rabbit in our garden, when I looked again there were two rabbits, and later that day there were three! For a moment I thought I was in an episode of Father Ted! They were here for a couple of days and the owners came to get there, although there were a few minutes of me chasing rabbits around the garden like a mad person!

Rabbit crisis sorted and later that night I opened the front door, and a cat ran in and went upstairs under the bed! This cat is often around, but it’s the first time it’s come in, I had to grab some chicken to coax it out!

I did a really interesting podcast this week. I met Paul from Jet Black Squares, and we spoke all about photography and moving to Ireland from the UK. I love doing podcasts, it appeals to my inquisitive side, and I love finding out more about people. I didn’t get any offers of a space I can use occasionally in Sligo town, so if anyone has a space, I’d be really grateful. Like so much of what I do, the podcasts are free, and I don’t make anything from them.

Yesterday I visited the King House Craft Fair, I went with great intentions of taking lots of photos and chatting to everyone, it turned out that I was having one of my anxious days, so I more of less legged it around the place and left. I hate days when I’m like that, but I realise that it’s just a part of who I am now, and I’ll never push myself to be anything different. The good days far outweigh the bad ones. I did have a lovely chat with Tracy from Hazelrocks Jewellery and bless her heart she went over to The Boyle Craft Shop to buy the book! She also posted on her social media pages and I’m very grateful. Check out her website here for lovely Christmas presents.

Thanks as always to those of you who always read the blog. I really appreciate it. Wishing you all a good December.
