Welcome to another Sunday Thoughts, a round-up of my week, and a catch up with you all. Just a typed version this week, not many people listened to the podcast version last week, so I’ll just stick to a written one for the time being.
It’s been a busy week, I finally got to The Harbour Cafe in Mullaghmore, and you can read about that here. There are another couple of Sligo food places on my list to visit, but it’s all about time (and money). After a recent bad experience with a place, I now won’t post press releases without actually visiting a place myself. Press releases are always glowing write-ups of places, and I was quite taken aback by the service (or lack of) at a place recently, so I will be sure to visit before I feature a food place on the blog.

By the way, Mullaghmore is now a one way system, or it’s meant to be. You drive up by the castle and take the coastal road, and come into Mullaghmore from the Pier Head side. The back news is that the breathtaking drive with the castle ahead of you has gone. You’ll have to walk, or park the car and look back. Mind you, when I was there yesterday morning, no one was paying any heed to the one way system.

I took a look around the Peace Garden, which is just gorgeous and a credit to the people looking after it. Do visit it when you are in Mullaghmore. I’ll put more photos on my Facebook page. I also saw some hardy souls in the sea having a swim, I was cold just looking at them. There is a sauna in Mullaghmore though, which looked like a lovely idea.

The book is going well, it’s causing me a few sleepless nights, but that’s me over-thinking. You can read about the book here. Top tip: The Perfect Couple on Netflix sent me to sleep each time I tried to watch it! Another tip, Piriton antihistamine works wonders for me, although not fun when I wake in the middle of the night needing a pee, and wondering what planet I’m on! TMI – sorry!
I got to lovely Leitrim on Friday for work. I took a little detour and visited Mohill, the country market there on a Friday morning is fantastic! Such a choice of fresh produce, home baking, cooked dinners, and more, and it was really busy, which is great to see.

I drove through Keshcarrigan on my way to Drumshanbo, and I had to chuckle at the ‘speed trap’, I did a double-take when I drove past, and I stopped to have a closer look. When I got to Drumshanbo, Jinny’s tearoom was hopping, there was a traditional music session taking place, apparently this happens every Friday morning – so put it on your list to visit.

My hair got a much-needed cut and colour this week. Janelle in The Hair and Beauty Quarter in Sligo town is wonderful. She’s calm and quiet, and I really feel comfortable with her. I have a blue streak this time, instead of the purple, although I’ll probably go back to purple next time. I’m almost scared to tell you about Janelle, because she gets booked up very quickly, and I had to wait a few weeks for my appointment. I did manage to stay away from the scissors and not give myself a haircut though!

I’ve got back to painting this week, I forgot about the trolls though. I posted the painting above and got the comment ‘Hell on Earth’, a few folk thought that he meant the colour of the painting, so I left him be, I woke this morning to a really nasty personal comment, so he’s been blocked. I’ll never understand why people do that. If something isn’t for you, just scroll on by. Anyway, I really like this painting, and I’ve put a limited number of prints on my Etsy shop – which I’ve resurrected even though the fees break my heart.
Earlier this year I posted about Magnum’s Tony Clarkin passing away. For those who don’t know, the name Magnumlady comes from this band. I’ve been a fan for 40 years! Anyway, there is going to be a tribute to Magnum in January, and I’ve booked a ticket to go to Manchester. Hopefully we won’t be snowed in (there I go with the overthinking!) It will be something very special, and there are only a very limited number of dates, so I’m delighted to be going.
I think that’s all my news this week, I hope you are all keeping well, and thank you for reading.
