The Pod Sandwich Bar opens in Sligo Town

Update. Looking like it closed down – October 25
The Pod has opened on Wine Street in Sligo, at the entrance to The Quayside Shopping Centre. I called in today to say hello and wish them the best of luck. The place has really been transformed, there’s astro turf on the floor, cool lighting, and old vinyl records on the display units.

According to the Facebook page – The Pod is home of Sligo’s finest homemade coffee and stylish deli delights! Wraps, bagels, sandwiches, & more. A Geometry of taste. Not your ordinary deli.

I was hoping to get an Acai bowl (my new favourite thing), but they don’t have them yet, they hope to at the end of the week. I did buy a lovely tropical smoothie though. It’s takeaway only, but handy for those working in town, or wanting to eat on the move.

The staff are friendly, and there’s a nice buzz in the place. I wish them all the very best. I forgot to ask their opening hours, but hopefully they’ll read this and let me know.
