Focus on Sligo Food – Grá Bistro in Dromore West

I am very late to visit Grá Bistro, it’s been on my list since they opened, and I finally got there at the weekend. It’s very deceiving from the outside, as it looks quite small, and it’s much bigger than I expected inside.

I was welcomed by Joe Grogan, he runs the bistro along with his business partner, chef Grainne Sheridan. You might know them previously from Walker 1781 in Sligo town, and Luna in Dromahair. The bistro is cool and quirky, and is located just a few doors up from the petrol station on the Main Street in Dromore West. There’s parking outside too.

I love the breakfast menu, there’s something for all budgets and different tastes. I have a thing for pancakes, so that was what I ordered. They were gorgeous, cooked in butter, smothered in syrup and topped with granola, poached pear and pomegranate. In fact I haven’t stopped thinking about them since I had them!

When I went to pay there were treat boxes shouting my name, lovely little pieces of homemade cake and cookies, so I bought one of those too, and the brownies and carrot cake are unreal! Grainne came out from the kitchen to say hello to me, I’ve never met her before, so it was lovely to put a face to the name, she kindly handed me a voucher for lunch for two, which was so nice and very much appreciated, and I can’t wait to try their lunches out.

They also have a takeaway menu and have a pre-order menu of sweet and savoury dishes too, and they are family sized, so perfect it you don’t feel like cooking.

I’m looking forward to my return visit and I wish Grainne and Joe all the very best of luck. Find them on Facebook.
