IKEA Plan and Order Point Coming to Sligo

There has been a real buzz around social media about IKEA coming to Sligo. It’s not actually an IKEA store that’s coming, it’s a plan and order point, and it will be in the old Vila unit in The Canopy (Johnston Court, Sligo).

People have been thinking that they can buy things in the unit, or get things delivered to there for collection. I had a look at the IKEA website and this is the description for the point:

“Our Plan and Order points are smaller stores dedicated to kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning where you can find home furnishing advice and expertise to help design your ideal space.

You can book an appointment to start your design with one of our expert planning specialists or use our handy in-store self-service tools to design your own solution. Whilst there are no items to purchase in-store and take home on the day, for your convenience, purchases made at the Plan and Order points can be delivered to your homecollected for free from one of our stores, or from one of our partner locations, including selected Tesco car parks or DPD pick-up points.”

RTE were the first media outlet to announce the news, and their post is here. They give the opening date as April 19th, 2024.

Regardless of what is opening, it’s great to see another business coming to Sligo, and I wish them all the best.
