Sunday Thoughts

It’s that time of the week again. Grab a cuppa, put your feet up, and have a read of the blog. It’s been a calmer week, thankfully and I don’t think I’ve offended anyone – always a bonus! It was my birthday yesterday, I can’t believe that I’m 56, I certainly don’t feel it. I remember when I was young thinking that people in their 50s were old. Now that I’m hurtling towards 60, I realise that age is only a number, you are as young as you feel, or act. I had a lovely birthday, I went to Tubbercurry in the morning, and I would have gone exploring but it was lashing rain. I had a short walk at the Tubbercurry Forest Trail and listened to the birds singing. I went to the library and read the papers, chose my books, and had a lovely chat with Marie. 417534613_1245221290227685_7202268847687024301_n I went for breakfast in From the Ground Up 2020, and had the French Toast and hot chocolate, it was lovely, and the icing on the cake was when I went to pay and a lovely man called Colin had paid for it, as a thank you for my blog posts. This was such a lovely thing to do, thank you Colin. 417399602_1245221330227681_992480221538574893_n My next stop was Achonry Farmers Market, the market is one of my happy places. I feel very at ease here, and the people are wonderful. Sian had a cake for me, and gifts, and some of the lovely stallholders gave me gifts too. It was just lovely. Lucy and Laurence came over in the afternoon and I was spoilt by so many lovely gifts and a wonderful cake. It was a really lovely day and I’m very grateful to have such good people around me. By the way, how cute is the positive tomato in my pic at the top? Laurence gave it to me, and I love it! 418990502_1244777956938685_1454078058125767690_n The rest of the week has been good, I got my nails done – it’s been funny because I posted them on social media and had people coming up to me just to look at my nails in real life. I love that! Thanks to Hilary in The Mill Pharmacy for recommending ManiCare Nail Studio. It was a lovely experience, and I’m already planning my next colour. (Not sponsored by the way, just in case anyone wonders). dye

Laurence gave me a flower dye kit for Christmas, and I finally got around to doing it last week. I bought white tulips and a white rose, and the idea was to turn the flowers into rainbow colours, but you have to split the stem and put the different parts it in the different dyes. I didn’t figure that the flowers might lean, and I heard a bang, the flowers had tipped and knocked the blue dye all over the floor! Luckily it was on tiles, so it cleaned up OK, not before turning my hands blue! I was some craic though, and I’m really impressed with the results (of the flowers, not the floor). I’ll try it again, but I’d put the flowers in vases to dye them, not cups as suggested.

I was thinking about pancakegate (read more here), and almost waiting for a similar thing to happen about my birthday breakfast. I’ve realised that I’m never going to please everyone, and that someone will always think that I’m being paid to advertise businesses. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing, and as always, I will tell you if I’ve been given something, or been sponsored by a business. As much as I’d love the blog to be sponsored, it’s not happened yet and after 15 years of blogging I don’t think it’s going to. But I’m OK with that.

I’m extending my birthday to tomorrow morning, and I have something lovely planned that I can’t wait to tell you all about, so watch this space. Wishing you all a good week ahead, and thanks for reading.
