Sligo Food News – February 2024

I’m back with a bumper packed post of Sligo Food News. I put a call out on my social media channels and you can read all the news below. You might end up hungry reading this though! A special word of thanks to Fran from Sligo Women in Business for sharing my post.

Osta @ The Model, Sligo is now better than ever. They are expanding their menu, and they will now be serving brunch every Saturday from 11am to 3pm and Felip Carbonell and Eddie Lynch will play Jazz from 12 noon to 2pm on 3rd February.

Grá Bistro is a new cafe/restaurant open in Dromore West, Sligo. I’m not sure of the days – so find them on Instagram.

Achonry Farmers Market have some events taking place during the month. They have their walk and treat idea – full details above. February 3rd is the St. Brigid’s Market, Saturday 10am – 1pm; Eileen’s Kitchen Table will be making and selling fresh Boxty on the spot, and Tina Killian from Nature Inspires will be doing a signing of her new book Trees Don’t Bite… But They Do Love to Giggle, there will also be live music. The 10th will be a special Valentine’s Market, more live music, Valentine’s gifts and treats and some amazing Valentine’s themed cakes and bakes.

Carrowgarry Farm in Beltra is taking part in the 2024 work placement program with Organic Growers of Ireland. Full details above.

Walker 1781 are now serving breakfast. They have a range of dishes available, and are open from 10am. Find them on O’Connell Street, Sligo.

Sligo Traveller Support Group is hosting a Pancake Tuesday fundraiser in support of North West STOP. Call in to their office any time between 10.30am and 2pm on Tuesday February 13th to enjoy some tea, coffee and pancakes, and give what you can afford.

Mc G Cakes is a one-stop shop for Valentine’s Day. They are back in their pop-up shop on Grattan Street, Sligo (formally the Style Emporium) and you can find not just cakes, but also cards, flowers, and helium balloons. They have everything you need to spoil the one you love. Their cookie postbox is filled with chocolate brownies and comes in a luxury gift box. Hooked have teamed up with Moksh Chai and are now serving Moksh Specialty Chai and Tumeric Latte. You can also find Moksh Chai in Cosgrove’s Deli.

Paul Baker from ‘Paul’s Retro Eats’ in Boyle and former Head Chef of ‘The Oarsman’ has started a new venture with Julian Pedraza (former chef in ‘The Oarsman’ and The Fatted Calf (Athlone). They have taken over the very well established ‘The Crossbar’ in Gurteen village as of November last year.

From the Ground Up 2020, Tubbercurry has just launched their lunch menu. There’s something for everyone.

I was walking through town and spotted Park Kitchen, it’s in Calry Court (just off Stephen’s Street). They seem to be takeaway only, and they do sushi, bubble tea, and more. https://www.parkkitchen.ie/home

FUNKÈ have some new dishes on their menu, including Fish Curry, Likkle Beef Skewers, Calypso Salad, Energy boosting Scotch Eggs, Steamed Cabbage, Frittas, Rasta Pasta. They are also hosting a Tasters & Dance Evening coming up on the 9th of March ’24.

The Swagman has joined Just Eat, so you can get their lovely food delivered, or you can collect.
