Yes, today is Sunday, in case all the days have blurred into one. It’s also New Year’s Eve, and I’m gearing up for the annual family party – here’s a look at last year’s one:

I wrote a post during the week about some of my highlights for 2023. It has been a real rollercoaster of a year, as life tends to be, but I’m not going to dwell on the negative. 2024 is like starting off with a clean slate. I have no resolutions and no plans, I’ll just go with the flow. I would like to visit Wild Ireland at some stage, that’s been on my list since it opened, maybe in 2024 I’ll get there.
I went to Tubbercurry yesterday, I’m a member of the Open Library, which means I can visit even when the library is closed. It’s brilliant, I can read the papers, use the computer (if I want to), get printing done, and of course take out books. I’m such a big fan of our Irish libraries, it’s free to be a member and there are no fees for books that are overdue. The library membership also gives you access to free online courses, there are over 400 courses available, I’m doing one about ghosts at the moment.

When I was in Tubbercurry I went to From the Ground Up for breakfast, Jenny has a new seated area and cafe – the menu is great and the food was fantastic. It’s well worth a visit if you are in, or near Tubbercurry.

I drove home via the Carniara Viewing Point, it’s on the road from Tubbercurry to Lavagh. Thanks to Pippa for telling me about it. There is a lovely view over the Ox Mountains and Knocknashee, the light was so beautiful when I got there, so I went for a little walk and took some photos. I haven’t taken many photos since we said goodbye to Rocket, so it was nice to start thinking about photography again.

Now TV had a offer of €1 a month for their Cinema channels, and Netflix has gone to the dogs again (I only got it back for Squid Game Challenge – epic – except the ending). Anyway, I’m now enjoying movies that I should have seen years ago – such as Pretty in Pink. After I watch a movie I look at IMDB to find out more about it, and it got me thinking (dangerous). I was thinking about if my life was a movie, and who would be the main characters, and then I was thinking about the extras and how I really gave some of them too much room in my head. I must focus more on the main characters and less about the extras, especially those with ‘walk on’ parts, who don’t really add anything in the grand scheme of things. This actually made a lot of sense at the time, although it probably reads like garbage now.
I’d better sign off now before I start spouting more rubbish. I wish you all a very Happy New Year, and be kind to yourself. Thanks for reading.
